Jody Flecken is a licensed professional counselor with a master’s degree in clinical counseling from Eastern University (class of 2005). She also has a master’s degree from Bowling Green State University in higher ed. administration (class of 1982) and served as director of student development at a community college in Pittsburgh. Jody began her counseling career fifteen years ago at The Peacemaker Center in Lionville, PA where she worked for ten years before joining the SR&A team in 2015. She has presented at local churches and community settings on topics related to communication, boundary issues, premarital counseling, PTSD and women in transition. Jody has also been part of the Eastern University community in St. David’s, PA since 2015. She started as a teaching assistant and two years later moved into the position of adjunct professor, teaching graduate counseling internship classes.
Jody works from a strength-based, psychodynamic approach including Solution- Focused, Person-Centered, Cognitive-Behavioral and Emotionally Focused Therapy. Jody specializes in couple counseling, communication issues, anxiety, depression, codependency, grief and life transitions. She works with teens and adults and provides individual, family and marriage counseling as well as clinical supervision for counselors working toward licensure. She offers daytime and evening
appointments.
Jody and her husband (married since 1982) have lived in the Downingtown area since 1984. Jody enjoys tennis, gardening, kayaking, hiking, and cooking. She also loves spending time with her adult children, son, Tim, daughter, Katelin, son-in-law, David and delightful “day brightener” granddaughter, Isla, as well as extended family, neighbors, and the Central Presbyterian Church community.
